Our Story

He's from the city. I'm from the country
I'm on tv he's in an operating room all day.
He loves to make me laugh. I love to laugh.
I'm frugal. He is NOT.
I love country music. He's learning to love it, too.
He loves to eat. I love to cook.
I love to shop...and so does he.
Our favorite time is together just relaxing.

After a year and half of dating, Forrest and I recently got engaged. I am a 29 year old television news anchor and he's a 34 year old plastic surgeon. We live in Houston, Texas.

The engagement: After our show ended one morning, my co-workers told me there was breaking news and the anchors needed to get back on the set to break into The Today Show. I had just gotten back from Starbucks and headed right into the studio, I had no idea anything was up. Come to find out, the breaking news wasn't a fire like they had told me; instead my boyfriend was in the studio to propose. It was the most perfect proposal I could think of, and I said yes before he asked!

We are so lucky to have this precious moment on DVD from 3 different angles! It's certainly one of the perks of working for a tv station.
After having a tough time deciding where to get married, we had a terrifying experience that helped us make the decision. Two weeks ago we were skiing with my family in Beaver Creek, Colorado.
Here we are as we started the day at The Ritz at Bachelor's Gulch. We had breakfast and lunch there . After lunch, we left and headed out to finish our perfect ski day; little did we know what was ahead of us.
After skiing hard all day long, I was exhausted keeping up with these two. My cousin Andrew and my fiance are excellent skiers; I'm just okay. On Christmas Eve, somehow ended up on the hardest run on the mountain...fast forward a few hours, and we were lost in the woods. It was dark and no one knew where we were. We were terrified. I am a news anchor, and I read stories all the time about people who wander off and freeze to death! Although he's 18 and an adult, I felt responsible for my little cousin. The last thing his father told me that day was to take care of him. After desperately climbing, clawing and trying to sky our way back to a trail, exhausted and defeated we called for help. We had 2 cell phones that were working. The skip patrol eventually found us, but we then had to ski back to civilization 4.5 miles away! It was the hardest thing I've ever done in my life! Forrest compared it to competing in a tri-athalon without training for it. With the help of the ski patrol, we got down. Our families were terrified and so relieved when we arrived. It was a Christmas Eve we will never forget.
Here's another picture of the "survivors," as my family now calls us! We are in front of the tree at The Ritz at Bachelor's Gulch.

That's a great story. Congratulations on the up-coming nuptials, and on making it back from Beaver Creek in one piece!
